impulse time motion is a live audiovisual installation by Enrico Becker. Objects move and interact — their energy is captured, transformed, and fed in real time into both a sound generator and a visual engine. Every impact, every motion becomes signal: rhythm, tone, color, form. Intention, chance, and automatism steer a process that is repetitive and unrepeatable at once.

Impulse

The impulse triggers — no hierarchy, no delay. It is the point from which everything comes: every movement, every image, every sound. Still undivided. Still one.

Time

A push. A tilt. A chance event. The impulse begins to move. Its trace becomes Time — duration made visible, a tempo taking shape as the object drifts through space.

Motion

Impulse upon impulse, time upon time — they accumulate into a field that is image and sound at once, barely separable. A single trigger, raw and unplanned. Objects and space take it over, change it, dissolve it. Rhythm becomes shape. Timbre becomes color. The generator rewrites itself in real time and never repeats. Not a projection with a soundtrack — an Experience. You stand inside it.

From Source/Impulse to Experience/Movement

Two sources, born of the same motion. Both meet and generate a new signal. Single impulses become rhythmic Time. Time interwoven with the image becomes an Experience — not a film with a soundtrack, but both at once. Impact and motion. The same origin. Never twice the same.

Technical Requirements

Table: 2.5 × 1 m, standard height — the installation tooks 70 cm the rest is audio and computer
Power outlets: 10 × sockets — laptop, Eurorack power supply, camera, light, spare
Lighting: 1 × small accent light, mounted directly on the installation, subtle
Audio connection, computer → Eurorack: 1 × cable, audio interface out → Eurorack ext. in, for the tracking algorithm’s audio signal
Video output: 1 × HDMI, image signal from the visual-engine computer to the on-site projection or screen
Audio output: 2 × 6.3 mm jack, stereo, line level — normally direct from the Eurorack output, exact routing to be discussed with the venue
Setup time: 60 min
Playing time: 20 – 60 min

Provided by the venue: table, power, a projector or screen with HDMI input, and a PA accepting two stereo jack inputs. Brought by the artist: the installation, Eurorack system, laptop, camera and stand.
